As a response to the eruption of Mount Sinabung that happened around early this month—a devastating natural disaster that has caused irreversible loss to many, KAGUM Hotels and Grand Serela Hotel & Convention Medan launched charity programs to help provide relief to the evacuees still staying at emergency shelters around the disaster area.
Beginning in the morning of February 9th, 2014, this charity program in the end managed to deliver not just money (amounting up to nearly 12 million Rupiah), but also fundamental necessities such as consumable items (such as rice, eggs, noodles, milk, sugar, salt, tea, cereal, and more), clothing (for old, young, and adults), important living amenities (such as soap, shampoo, toothbrushes), and other forms of aids.
The program visited two shelters, the first being Posko Tongkoh, with refugees mostly coming from the village of Rimau Kayu. The second shelter was Posko Lau Gumba, with refugees mainly coming from the village of Payung. All of the aids were delivered directly by teams from KAGUM Hotels and Grand Serela Hotel & Convention Medan, and we hope that, despite everything that has happened, our aid can help give all the evacuees and refugees a better footing to stand on and return to a better condition.
